Sant’Anna School is to appoint its new Rector for the 2019 – 2025 term. Senior Dean Giovanni Dosi chaired the public meeting on 25 January 2019 presenting the three candidates who made their pre-election statement: Piero Castoldi, Professor in Telecommunication Systems at the Sant’Anna School TeCIP Institute; Eugenio Guglielmelli, Professor of Biomedical and Rehabilitation Engineering at the Università Campus Bio-Medico – Rome and Sabina Nuti, Professor of Business and Economics at the Sant’Anna School Institute of Management.

Professor Pierdomenico Perata six years term expires on 7 May 2019. Sant’Anna School staff and students are increasingly involved in appointing his successor. Sant’Anna School as a leading institution for academic excellence and innovation has asked for the successor the same ability to engage with all stakeholders and to address global challenges through teaching excellence and continuous enhancement.

The three candidates - Piero Castoldi, Eugenio Guglielmelli, and Sabina Nuti engaged with the public at the meeting, promoting their views and responding to questions from the audience regarding models of teaching excellence, research, technological transfer, international partnerships, and new ways to support and grow the local economy. Candidates highlighted the strengths of higher education sector and their aspiration to make a valuable contribution for the strategic partnership between three of Italy’s leading institutions, Sant’Anna School, Scuola Normale Superiore and Scuola Universitaria Superiore IUSS - Pavia.

Speaking of the electoral process, Professor Giovanni Dosi said, “I would like to thank the three candidates once again for the opportunity to listen to their distinctive goals that have been debated. I believe that they will raise the quality of teaching at Sant’Anna School. This debate demonstrates their willingness to seek improvement and highlights areas and opportunities to define institutional strategies even better. They will help ensure the continued success of our institution. Now, Dosi added, there are one thousand voters more confident in making an informed decision and cast their ballots. A wider range of candidates and ideas i.e. three candidates running for the rector’s office can contribute to the vitality of democracy. By guaranteeing real electoral competition, they reinforce the robustness of our community, which would benefit from greater participation to all phases of the electoral process”.
